THE ARTFUL AUDIENCE;
TEN MOVIES EVERYONE SHOULD SEE
JANUARY 7 TO MARCH 25, 2009

How do you watch a great film and understand it as an artistic statement? Engage in the art of watching some of the greatest films ever made and discuss the elements and issues crucial to understanding and appreciating the work. Learn how these movies have affected generations past, present, and future in so many ways.

Renowned critic and lecturer Robert Masterson will share both his enthusiasm and his unique perspective on how to artfully appreciate movies. Masterson has been a professor at Concordia College and the Univ. of New Mexico; written regularly for the Westchester Co. Weekly and the Fairfield Co. Weekly; taught film classes and workshops across the country.

Fee for the series is $180. Among the ten films to be screened are City Lights (1931), Singin’ in the Rain (1952), Bonnie and Clyde (1967); Barry Lyndon (1975).

The film series is presented by the Greenwich Art Society in collaboration with the Greenwich Arts Council, and will be held on Wednesdays from January 7 to March 25, 6:30-9:30 pm. There will be no classes on February 18 and March 4.

For information and registration call the Greenwich Art Society at 629-1533.

The Greenwich Arts Council promotes the arts by nurturing artists and building audiences, bringing the arts to the community and the community to the arts.
